Lost Astronaut Studios in 2026
Hello World! Captain Poopypants here, reporting for duty as the newest blogger for Lost Astronaut Studios!
If you’re new around here, let me give you the quick rundown. We are an indie game studio that thrives on chaos, comedy, and that sweet, sweet lo-fi 8-bit aesthetic. We don't do hand-holding, and we definitely don't do boring. Our games are designed to make you laugh, scream at your friends on the couch, and experience the kind of unpredictable fun that only comes from glorious trial and error. We're all about pushing limits, breaking records, and exploring the unknown—usually while something is blowing up.
Apolune 2: The Chaos Continues on Console
If you haven't played our flagship title, Apolune 2, what are you even doing? You are missing out on the premier asteroid-mining, space-pirate-fighting, ice-cream-collecting simulator of our generation.
We originally launched it on PC back in 2021, but in case you missed the massive news from earlier this year: Apolune 2 is officially out on Xbox!
For those uninitiated, you play as a miner for OreCorp, a vaguely dystopian company that cares way more about "spacebucks" than your personal safety. You mine asteroids, upgrade your gear, and defend your station. But here’s the kicker—you’re tethered to the station.
Instead of free flight, you have to master a physics-based movement system. You swing, you drift, and you inevitably crash into things. And because we fully support up to eight controllers for couch co-op on a single Xbox, that means up to eight tangled astronauts desperately trying not to ruin each other's day. It is a total comedy of errors, and it is glorious. If you want a party game that values shared unpredictability and laughter over precision, go grab it.
Teasing the Future: Rancid Polluted Globe 1
Now, let's look ahead. We are trading the cold vacuum of deep space for the glowing, toxic warmth of a ruined Earth.
Get ready for RPG1: Rancid Polluted Globe - Radioactive Plastic Wasteland.
We are currently working on this single-player, turn-based, retro-inspired roleplaying party management game. Think of the classic, unforgiving CRPGs from the mid-1980s (like Ultima IV and V), but injected with our signature dark humor and set in a post-corporate apocalypse.
You'll play as a lone wanderer who finally got tired of milking cow-bees and running from rampant gatorzillas around your relatively undisturbed white farmhouse. You'll gather a band of up to 8 party members, manage over 44 equipment slots, and head out into a world of flowing radioactive magma and disfigured mutants to find out what the hell happened before your pappy was born.
It features granular turn-based combat, full-color pixel art, a heavy metal-inspired score, and the kind of classically hard gameplay that makes victory actually mean something. It's coming soon to Steam, so make sure you go wishlist it!
Stay tuned to this blog for more updates, dev diaries, and whatever else falls out of my brain. Until next time, keep your tethers untangled and your spacebucks safe!
